Our Mission

“The mission of the Hickory Landmarks Society is to serve the region by leading  in the protection of architecturally significant landmarks, neighborhoods, and cultural traditions. We do this by means of Education, Advocacy, Property Management, and Ensuring responsible historic preservation as part of community growth.”

The Hickory Landmarks Society offices are located on the
second floor of the Maple Grove Museum.

Our Goal for the Future

To educate, encourage, and inspire others in the field of  historic preservation.
To complete the interior restoration of Maple Grove to it’s 19th century origins.
To increase public visitation at our facilities.
To assure preservation of Hickory's historical landmarks.


Our Services

Operation of historic Maple  Grove (1883) and Propst House (1882) as museums for the visiting public.
Maintenance of an historic preservation technological resource library.
Free topical speaker services.
Newsletter containing feature articles and preservation  news.
Guidance and advocacy support services for issues relating to  historic preservation.
